    The Vermont State Police and the Bennington Police Department are investigating the disappearance of 59-year-old Matthew Houskeeper, of Bennington, Vermont. Police say Houskeeper has not been seen or heard from since Wednesday morning, Aug. 14, 2024. The Bennington Police Department was notified of his disappearance on Thursday, Aug. 15, after Houskeeper failed to show up at work and was reported missing.

    According to court records, 42-year-old Stephen Loewe of Bellows Falls, Vermont, committed three bank robberies and burglarized a store within a 48-hour time span. Loewe is accused of burglarizing a store in Springfield, Vermont early in the morning on Aug. 13. Hours later, Loewe entered the M&T Bank branch in town and demanded cash. He then proceeded to the Claremont Savings Bank, handed the teller a note saying it was a robbery, and demanded $500 in cash.

    On Thursday, just after 6:30 p.m., the Williston Police Department, along with the Williston Fire Department and numerous other rescue agencies, were called to a report of a crash involving two vehicles with potential serious bodily injuries.As a result of the crash, VT Route 2A near Butternut Road was closed to traffic for over four hours Thursday night.Five people were transported to the UVM Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

    The Morristown Police Department got the call at approximately 5:51pm Wednesday afternoon for a report of a missing swimmer in the Lamoille River, near B Street. Officials identified the missing swimmer as a 14-year-old from Morristown, Vermont. The police department was assisted by the Morrisville Fire Department, Morristown EMS, Johnson Water Rescue, Stowe Mountain Rescue, and Morrisville Water and Light in Wednesday night's search.
