On April 30, 2024, President Biden signed a National Security Memorandum (“NSM”) on Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience (NSM-22), updating the policy objectives and operational contours of the US government (“USG”) approach to ensuring the security of critical infrastructure. NSM-22 replaces Presidential Policy Directive 21 (PPD-21), the policy directive issued in 2013 that defined the critical infrastructure sectors and created the USG strategy to building their resilience.
