BALTIMORE - Its the sweetest group of girls you'll ever meet, the Cupcake Committee. Yes, they do bake cupcakes. But founder Tyra Sullivan says there's so much more to them than creating sweet treats. "The word cupcake means Committed United Partnership (serving) Cuteness And Kindness Everywhere," she said. Sullivan started the group three years ago for her daughter Ivory and her nieces, who she said were going through some hard times.

BALTIMORE - With the push of a button, a yellow spray quickly shoots out of a small can and onto the skin of Wayne Grube, creating a thick coating on his bare arm. If his arm had been bleeding, he says the SEAL hemostatic wound spray would have stopped it in less than five seconds. Grube is the CEO of BC3 Technologies, based in Baltimore. He worked with two chemical engineers out of Germany to develop the spray, which he says is the first of its kind on the market.

Share MT. VERNON — Sharon Wheaden-West is right at home in her first grade classroom at the Loyola School. Before coming here, she taught for 25 years with Baltimore City Schools. "It's a big difference, our classroom sizes are much smaller," she said. At city schools, Wheaden-West would have around 25 students in her class. At the Loyola School, she has 9 students this year. She is also an ordained minister and the Jesuit roots of the school allow her to share her faith with her students.

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. - Creativity and ingenuity were on display Monday night at the Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, as nine chefs competed for bragging rights in the Weekend Backpacks Chefs' Challenge. The fundraiser challenges local chefs to use ingredients that are put in the bags of food that Weekend Backpacks distributes weekly to kids in need, such as canned corn, beans, rice and canned fruit. Weekend Backpacks was started 10 years ago by Sandie Nagel, packing 18 bags of food in her dining room.
