Islanders have been learning how they can better protect themselves from future threats of violence. The self defence classes have been put on by Samurai Fitness in Jersey, in the hope of giving the community more confidence to de-escalate aggression from strangers. Instructor Matthew Collins started the sessions after experiencing a high-threat situation whilst travelling in Asia.

The island's Beekeepers Association has invited every Year Four class to get up close and personal with their honeybees. Keepers want to encourage younger people to get outdoors and appreciate nature on their doorsteps - something they believe is declining. Students at Le Rocquier School in Jersey have been getting to grips with their bodies and hearing how one check can save their life. Thousands of secondary school children in Jersey have been learning about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. CoppaFeel! has returned to the island to present its 'Boobette' roadshow for the first time since 2017. Emma Baker got her diagnosis when she was just 31 - and is now one of the charity's 'Boobettes', sharing her story with teenagers.

The local 'army', a collective noun for the amphibian, is small compared to our European neighbours. It is thought that anywhere between 80 and 300 adult agile frogs call the island home.
