In January, the federal government announced a 35 per cent cut for 2024, limiting permits to around 360,000, and in September, it introduced another 10 per cent reduction for 2025 and 2026, limiting permits to 437,000.

The launch event for the Sheridan College Stories of Home project will take place at Hazel McCallion Campus (Mississauga), the C-Wing Atrium, on Thursday, June 1, from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm. A research initiative born of a shared passion for storytelling and funded by SRCA, Stories of Home was brought to life as the product of two years of intense effort by a team of students, alumni, and professors from the Sheridan ESL, Journalism, and TESOL Plus programs.
