The reduction in tariffs on automotive and steel imports as part of the White House’s first trade agreement under President Trump added fuel to investor demand for shares in UK carmakers and manufacturers. Britain and America agreed a limited trade pact that would cut American tariffs on British steel from a proposed 27.5 per cent to nothing, and on cars from 27.5 per cent to 10 per cent.
