    BUJA, Nigeria (AP) — The Netherlands on Thursday returned 119 artifacts looted from Nigeria, including human and animal figures, plaques, royal regalia and a bell. The artifacts, known as the Benin Bronzes and mostly housed in a museum in the city of Leiden, were looted in the late 19th century by British soldiers. In recent years, museums across Europe and North America have moved to address ownership disputes over artifacts looted during the colonial era.

    Five white men facing felony charges in the beating of a Black man at an Indiana bar last month are due in court today. Six men were initially arrested in connection with the May 30 incident in Fort Wayne, Indiana, that sent James Simmons, a Black man, to the hospital, but one of the men arrested told Black News & Views that he was able to prove he was not involved. His charges were dismissed.

    A blitz of immigration raids across Southern California — now backed by the National Guard — has met heavy resistance from local communities. And more raids could be coming, with President Donald Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan saying that immigration enforcement would be coming to Los Angeles “every day.”But even as the Trump administration is ramping up raids in places like Southern California, those actions aren’t resulting in many more cases finding their way to immigration courts.
