    There's good news today about the number of drug overdose deaths in the U.S.The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says there were 30,000 fewer drug overdose deaths in 2024 than the year before. Health officials say that's a drop of approximately 27% and the largest one-year decline on record. But experts say we still have work to do because overdose deaths are still higher than before the COVID pandemic, when we saw numbers surge.

    The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first at-home device to help detect cervical cancer. Doctors hope this will be a game changer by encouraging more women to do regular cervical cancer screenings. It's called the Teal Wand, and experts say it's the first at-home cervical cancer screening device, allowing patients to collect their own sample. Then, they send it off to a lab to test for human papillomavirus, which causes most cervical cancers.

That's especially true for those with fixed or lower incomes, where 47% say it's hard to eat a balanced diet. Compare that to only 15% of upper-income adults. But money isn't the only problem.
