A former Labour MP will stand trial charged with sexual assault. Gwynoro Jones, 82, was elected to represent Carmarthen in the House of Commons between 1970 and 1974. Swansea Crown Court heard on Friday that the ex-politician and broadcaster allegedly touched a woman without consent on a train on 11 June 2024 and the incident was recorded on CCTV. Mr Jones pleaded not guilty, speaking in the dock only to confirm his name, and is expected to stand the two-day trial on 10 November.

A former bishop has been jailed for sexually abusing a boy over a five-year period while he was a priest. Anthony Pierce, 84, who was bishop of Swansea and Brecon between 1999 and 2008, pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault on a child under the age of 16. Swansea Crown Court heard the abuse, which included sexual touching, happened from 1985 until 1990, while Pierce was a parish priest in West Cross, Swansea.
