Reporters sans frontières (RSF) dénonce la condamnation de Shangguan Yunkai à 15 ans de prison sur la base d'accusations montées de toutes pièces. Le journaliste d'investigation reconnu pour ses enquêtes sur la corruption des autorités chinoises doit être libéré immédiatement. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is horrified by the murder of Chinese independent journalist Sun Lin, reportedly beaten to death by police officers at his home. This crime comes as a direct consequence of the regime’s decade-long crusade against press freedom. On Friday 17 November 2023, Chinese state security police officers burst into the home of freelance journalist Sun Lin in the city of Nanjing and severely beat him up, news website Weiquanwang reported.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) calls for the immediate release of political commentator Guo Feixiong. Detained in a Chinese prison since December 2021, he has been on a hunger strike for several months to protest against his detention conditions. Chinese political commentator and human rights lawyer Yang Maodong – better known under the pen name Guo Feixiong – has spent almost three years in detention for publishing articles critical to the Chinese regime.

On 11 October 2023, Chinese-born Australian journalist Cheng Lei, a high-profile business news anchor working for state media group CGTN (China Global Television),was released and sent back home to Australia after over three years of arbitrary detention on alleged espionage charges. Cheng Lei was arrested on 13 August 2020 under suspicion of “illegally supplying state secrets overseas", a crime carrying a life sentence in China.
