Alice Corrigan has been appointed sales and marketing director at Hungry Tomato. The Cornwall-based non-fiction children’s publisher grew by more than 80% last year, and Corrigan joins the team following the launch of a new series, The Big Questions Answered, and at the start of a new collaboration with CCPPG, which will see Hungry Tomato produce a new science series called Tomorrow’s World.

Transworld has landed To Cage a Wild Bird by Bookstagrammer Brooke Fast in a six-figure, two-book deal. Senior commissioning editor Lara Stevenson acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) for the dystopian fantasy romance from Rebeka Finch at Darley Anderson. Publishing in November 2025, the book will be a launch title for Transworld’s new fantasy imprint in collaboration with FairyLoot.

The Commonwealth Short Story Prize shortlist, revealed today, features 25 "relevant, vibrant and essential" unpublished stories selected from a record-breaking 7,920 entries. The stories shortlisted this year tackle everything from human trafficking and war to motherhood and friendship. Five winners representing the five regions of the Commonwealth will be announced on 14th May, with the overall winner announced on 25th June.

Nigel Wilcockson, associate publisher at Cornerstone, acquired world rights to Michael Palin in Venezuela from Steve Abbott at Mayday Management. The book will be published in hardback, e-book and audiobook on 25th September 2025, coinciding with a documentary series.
