Crews responded this morning around 9 a.m. to an accident involving a fire truck on Arnold Lane in Waterloo. According to County Fire Coordinator Greg Lindley, two firefighters were returning to the station from a call and went off the shoulder of the road. “Due to the weight of the fire engine carrying 2,000 gallons of water, the truck rolled over,” Lindley said. “Both firefighters were transported by EMS and both have been released and are fine.”

This weekend, the Hines family will host their second annual Love Like Maddie event, named after their three-year-old daughter, Madison Hines, of Laurens, killed in an accident on Highway 76 in 2023. Throughout the year of healing from other family members’ serious injuries and a trial for the man responsible for the car crash, Maddie’s mom Chelsey, was struck by the impact her little girl had on the community.
