This weekend, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore hit 100 degrees for the first time in June in 12 years.

(NEW YORK) — A major storm set to bring heavy snow to the Rockies could be Denver’s biggest snowstorm in three years. Nine states from California to Montana to New Mexico are on alert for the snow and wind, with winter storm watches and warnings stretching across the Rockies. A winter storm warning is in effect for the Denver metro area starting Wednesday night and lasting through early Friday. The worst of the storm will hit on Thursday.

(NEW YORK) — Hurricane Otis is now the strongest hurricane on record to hit Mexico’s Pacific Coast, making landfall as a Category 5 with winds up to 165 mph. On Wednesday, Hurricane Otis strengthened to a Category 5 storm as it made landfall in Mexico, where it was expected to bring “catastrophic damage,” the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. The hurricane, which had been a tropical storm as of Tuesday morning, rapidly intensified within 24 hours.

ABC News(NEW YORK) — Tropical Storm Lee is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane on Wednesday as it traverses over the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The tropical storm formed some 1,300 miles east of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea on Tuesday. Lee is expected to intensify into a major hurricane on Thursday night or early Friday. Over the weekend, the storm is forecast to pass north of Puerto Rico, bringing some high surf and rip currents to the Caribbean but not any extreme weather.

The Gulf of Mexico has become the latest region to experience a marine heatwave, in addition to the Northern Atlantic and the Atlantic waters off the coast of Florida, as well as other occurrences around the globe.
