EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) issued a high wind and travel advisory for Sunday, April 27, for Southern New Mexico. NMDOT says travel advisories have been issued for Sunday, with the highest impact for strong winds and blowing dust from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Southern New Mexico. The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecasted sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph and peak gusts up to 60 mph, NMDOT said.

According to the criminal complaint, former Doña Ana County Magistrate Judge Joel Cano rented out his casita to Cristhian Ortega-Lopez at the behest of his wife last year. They met Ortega-Lopez when his wife hired him to do housework.

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM) - El Paso Walmart shooter Patrick Crusius pleaded guilty to state charges in the Aug. 3, 2019 massacre on Monday, April 21, and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The hearing began at 10 a.m. Monday morning at the El Paso County Courthouse. Previously, the shooter pleaded guilty in 2023 to federal charges and was sentenced to 90 consecutive life terms without possibility of parole. The shooter killed 23 people on Aug.
3 injured in crash near Santa Teresa Border Patrol Station

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Three people were injured in a crash Tuesday morning on N.M. Highway 9, near the Santa Teresa Border Patrol Station, according to the Las Cruces Fire Department. The Fire Department says they responded to the crash just before 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15 at mile marker 115, which is near the Santa Teresa Border Patrol Station. The Fire Department says three people were transported before they arrived at the scene. No further information has been released.

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM) - Another man was arrested this week after he was caught hiding narcotics in his rectum while trying to cross the Ysleta Port of Entry in El Paso, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). CBP says officers working at the Ysleta bridge seized around one-third of a pound of fentanyl after a 41-year-old man was hiding the drugs in his rectum.
