    The Fawcett Society has announced Penny East as the charity’s new chief executive. East takes over from interim chief executive, Martha Hannan, who covered the period following Jemima Olchawski’s departure at the end of February. East has worked in the charity sector for the last fifteen years, most recently she spent four years as a director at Think Ahead, the mental health charity that advocates for a social approach to mental health provision throughout the NHS.

    The Fundraising Regulator has today published a new Code of Fundraising Practice, set to take effect on 1 November 2025. It says that the new code delivers a "proportionate approach to regulation that protects the public without placing undue constraints on fundraisers."The new Code, which is 45% shorter than the current Code, has been designed to be clearer and easier to navigate for charities, fundraisers, and the public.
