If you were born any time after 1950 or so, chances are, during some portion of your elementary school years, you were exposed to the children’s literature classic “The Chronicles of Narnia”. When I was in first grade, I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful teacher (Mrs. Olson-Bartley!) who read the series’ first novel aloud to our class, a chapter each day.

The fact that I even feel it necessary to write this in the first place is enough to inspire a dramatic eye roll, but here we are - in a world where common sense is about as common as common courtesy (i.e., not so common). I recently went on a week-long cruise, my first time on a boat the size of a small city, and I learned a lot about how human beings operate during my half-dozen or so daily trips on the ship's elevators.
