In case you haven’t heard, a yimby (yes in my backyard) is the opposite of a nimby (not in my backyard). They are pro-building and want to unshackle England from its rusty planning system to build as many new homes as possible. Yimbyism has become a fashionable cause on the centre-left, thanks in part to the success of the Labour Yimby group.

Laverstoke Park is one of England’s finest country estates, but there’s a good chance you’ve never heard of it. That’s in large part because none of it is open to the public and it has been a private home for its entire existence, mainly for the family who built it nearly 300 years ago. The sprawling 1,800-acre estate is on the market for only the second time, in its entirety for £58 million, or as three separate lots with the estate agency Savills.
