Occidental Petroleum’s STRATOS direct air capture facility in Ector County recently achieved a significant milestone by receiving Class VI permits to sequester carbon dioxide (CO2) from the Environmental Protection Agency. The permits, the first issued to sequester CO2 from a DAC project, allows Occidental and its subsidiary, 1PointFive, to leverage its expertise managing large quantities of CO2 to sequester CO2 captured from STRATOS when it begins commercial operations later this year.

Nick Burns is on a mission to fuel fitness and wellness in the workers who fuel the oil and gas industry. "I was in the field, I was in shape and people were asking me how to get in shape," recalled Burns, owner and founder of PetroFit. After serving six years of active duty in the U.S. Army, including multiple tours in Afghanistan, he left the military and attended college. He went to work for Deloitte Consulting, providing oil and gas technology services for Deloitte's Energy & Resources clients.
