Occidental Petroleum’s STRATOS direct air capture facility in Ector County recently achieved a significant milestone by receiving Class VI permits to sequester carbon dioxide (CO2) from the Environmental Protection Agency. The permits, the first issued to sequester CO2 from a DAC project, allows Occidental and its subsidiary, 1PointFive, to leverage its expertise managing large quantities of CO2 to sequester CO2 captured from STRATOS when it begins commercial operations later this year.

A celebration was held Monday by the Texas Department of Transportation and Ports-to-Plains Alliance to officially designate a segment of U.S. Highway 87 as Interstate 27. It extends 4.2 miles from the South Loop 289 in Lubbock to 0.1 mile north of County Road 7500.

Nick Burns is on a mission to fuel fitness and wellness in the workers who fuel the oil and gas industry.
