Three-time Olympian and Captain America Meghan Duggan has joined the PWHL as a Special Consultant to Hockey Operations, the league announced Friday, November 15th. "Meghan is a long-time advocate for women’s hockey, a proven leader and an accomplished executive at the top levels of sport," said Jayna Hefford, PWHL Senior VP of Hockey Operations in the league's press release.

During my eight years as a sportswriter I've found myself consistently drawn to a number of subjects, like Nordic hockey, social justice, and equity for non-cisgender athletes. I've also found myself fascinated by some choices in team logos. Now, I'm not a graphic designer. I am, however, a big fan of committing to the bit. I like it when a team's design department says "fuck it, we ball," because sports are supposed to be fun and there's no reason why its marketing can't follow suit.

What should have been the greatest sporting experience of boxers Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting's lives was turned upside down throughout the Paris Olympics as controversy raged about their gender. Both women triumphed in the end, winning gold medals in their respective weight categories. I'm not here to re-litigate the issue. Instead, I'm here to ask a question: how does the PWHL plan to protect its athletes if a similar situation erupts in the league?

She turned 25 in May, but as she played most of the season at 24 years old, she's still eligible to make the list. Nieminen racked up a trio of SDHL scoring titles: Most Goals, Most Powerplay Goals, and Most Playoff Points. Scoring 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) in 33 regular-season games marks something of a down year for her, which indicates just how good she is.
