(WBKO) - The community gathered to celebrate and recognize individuals with down syndrome in Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky’s 26th annual Step Up for Down Syndrome walk Saturday at the Hot Rods stadium. Executive Director for the nonprofit, Stephanie Morton, said it is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. “Our walk is a celebration of the community, individuals with down syndrome,” Morton said.

ShareBOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - As of 6:50 a.m. this morning Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower confirmed that Summer has been located and returned home. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 17-year-old Summer Reels from Bowling Green. Reels is 5 feet 7 inches and weighs 130 lbs. Reels, who also goes by Zen, was last seen the night of Sept. 5. Her sister Stephanie took to Facebook on Saturday, urging anyone to come forward with information.

ShareBOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Bowling Green Police responded to an assault call Saturday afternoon and found two people with gunshot wounds. Officer Ronnie Ward said it happened just after 4 p.m. in the 800 block of Roselawn Way. He said when officers arrived, a man was sitting on a bed handling a weapon, with his daughter and granddaughter beside him. He said the gun discharged and a bullet went through his hand, then through his granddaughter. The bullet then exited the child.

GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) - Scott Johnson, a STEAM teacher from Red Cross Elementary, is one of nine teachers to receive a 2025 Kentucky Teacher Achievement Award and is now up for Kentucky Teacher of the Year. In his 22nd year of teaching and seventh at elementary school, Johnson has learned that building relationships and setting a good example is one of the keys to teaching.

GLASGOW, Ky. (WBKO) - One of Glasgow’s city leaders has announced his retirement and will pick up a new, lighter job this coming fall. Glasgow Fire Department Chief William Rock said he is retiring on Oct. 1 as his daughter is expecting a grandson. She lives in Louisville, and Rock told her, “wherever she lived…we’d follow.”He and his wife Sharon already bought a house in northern Bullitt County and plan to pick up the job of babysitter when his daughter and son-in-law return to work.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - As of 5:30 p.m., WRECC has announced that about 1,400 customers have lost power in the Smallhouse Road and Grider Pond Road area due to the storms that just passed through. They also said there are about 300 customers in the Hadley area also without power. They said crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible.

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) - Students are returning to school in Hart County amid costly renovations to the athletic department. The Board of Education approved two major projects: converting the existing practice football field, which they called BG Turf 1, into a legal soccer field and renovating the bus garage next to the track. According to meeting minutes, the field conversion costs in a sample contract was about $1.4 billion including yearly maintenance.

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) - Students are returning to school in Hart County amid $9 million renovations to the athletic department. According to the Board of Education Facility Plan, the package includes major renovation of the athletic complex, improvements to the baseball field, new baseball and softball field lighting, new turf for the football field and converting the existing practice football field into a legal soccer field.
