Councillor Margot Castles has topped the list for the number of councillor requests on the Council Hub – where councillors make requests for information. Council has published councillor expenses and the list of councillor requests after the first six months of having councillors back on the Central Coast. Castles asked for information 25 times ahead of Councillor Jared Wright with 23 requests.

A new Dredging and Water Management Advisory Panel will be formed to provide advice and recommendations on all matters involving dredging and the management of waterways on the Central Coast. After prolonged debate, councillors voted 8-7 at the March 25 Central Coast Council meeting to create the committee. The idea was put forward by Councillor Rachel Stanton, who said it was imperative to assess all solutions to reduce flooding and its impacts across the local area.

A second resident has come forward to show their request for information from Central Coast Council resulted in the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) ruling that Council has breached legislation. The IPC investigation pursued a complaint from local historian Merril Jackson, well known for her work at Gosford’s Poppy Park and Remembrance Day celebrations. Her complaint is similar to the problems faced by Kevin Brooks as outlined last week. (See link below).

The Library Review Panel will hold more than the three meetings it was originally planning. The panel endorsed a community consultation process about the future of the Kibble Park building, to be conducted in April and May 2025. It will reconvene after the conclusion of community consultation, and the feedback has been analysed, to review the outcomes and discuss potential next steps.
