CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Several crews are responding to a fire in Charleston. According to Kanawha County Dispatchers, the call came in around 7 p.m. Wednesday of a structure fire along Sugar Creek Drive at Craze Drive. Dispatchers tell us crews with the Charleston Fire Department are on scene now and have shut down Sugar Creek Drive while battling the flames. There is no word on if the structure is occupied and no injuries are being reported. Stay with WOWK for updates, on air and online.

WEST VIRGINIA (WOWK) - An invasive insect from Asia is spreading across the United States, including in the Mountain State. This pest is called the Spotted Lanternfly, and it's been reported in 16 West Virginia counties, mostly in the northern part of the state, such as the Morgantown, Clarksburg and Parkersburg areas. Experts are urging residents to keep an eye out for the insects, as they are a significant threat to agriculture.
