Dear Coach, My top priority for 2025 is to get more and better quality sleep. Naturally a night owl, I frequently allow scrolling, reading, or binging cable shows to get in the way of a reasonable amount of shuteye. Dear Coach,Even though play feels unproductive, a poor use of time, and silly, I’m hungry for more playtime in my life. I’ve fond memories of playing as a child. Even my hard-driving college years were filled with play but it all seemed to end when I became a parent. Now that I have less responsibility in my life, how can I bring back play?

Dear Coach, I’m a middle-aged woman who is still dealing with the negative messages I received as a child, teenager, and young wife. Growing up, I frequently heard, “You’re stupid, why are you so irresponsible? You never get it right! If only you were more like your sister.” Unfortunately, I married a man who gave me similar messages.

Dear Just Wanna Be,I grew up in the era of Dr. Seuss books so I take the advice of their writer and illustrator, Theodor Seuss Geisel (1904-1991) who wrote, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” Geisel was more than a writer of popular books.

Dear Sitting,Good for you for recognizing the importance of exercise and that “sitting your life away” is problematic. Author Edward Stanley puts it this way: “Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness.” You’re not alone in your lack of motivation to exercise.

I know many people, myself included, who are voting in November for Amendment 4, to limit government interference with abortion. I hope you’ll join us. Voting for this amendment doesn’t mean we’re “pro-abortion.” It means we believe every woman has a constitutional right to abortion before fetal viability or when necessary to protect the patient's health, as determined by the patient's healthcare provider.

Dear Voter, I like how you signed your email. Voting is essential when we live in a democracy like ours. I hope you’ve signed up to receive a mail-in ballot. You can always vote in person (even if you request a mail-in ballot) but if you have a ballot in hand, no matter what happens - bad weather, long lines, illness - you’ll still be able to vote. Dear Invisible,For readers not familiar with ghosting, it is cutting off communications with someone without explanation. For instance, you meet a person for coffee or drinks and a positive connection is made. Not only do you feel good about the in-person encounter, they said they wanted to see you again. When you don’t hear from them for a few days, you text, message, email, or call them to see when they want to get together again. They ignore you. Zero response.
