GENEVA / ANKARA The continuation of Israel's occupation in Gaza and the risk of large-scale conflict make proper reconstruction efforts extremely difficult, according to UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing Balakrishnan Rajagopal. ISTANBUL / ANKARATurkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Wednesday that Ankara would not accept US President Donald Trump’s plan to take over Gaza and forcibly displace its people, calling for the proposal not to be taken seriously. “There are probably only two countries in the world that support this: the US and Israel. ANKARA More than 100 earthquakes have been recorded in the Aegean Sea over the past 48 hours, with magnitudes ranging from 1.3 to 4.8, Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said on Sunday. Over 400 minor earthquakes have been recorded in the region since Jan. 28, AFAD said on X. According to data from the agency, multiple tremors were registered across the region between Feb. 1 at midnight and Feb. 3 at midnight, marking a period of heightened seismic activity.
