When I hear the word “cruise,” one thing comes to mind. I think of gargantuan ships that are packed with people and overwhelming in every sense. With restaurants, water slides, live shows and casinos, these ships feel like floating theme parks. To each their own, but personally, I’ve never enjoyed being on a large cruise. It's not that I don’t get the appeal. With something for everyone, I think they’re ideal for families and multigenerational travel.

Kate wondering why. This list was originally published on May 18, 2010, ahead of the Lost series finale. We’re recirculating it for anybody rewatching the show now that it is streaming on Netflix. When Lost ended in 2010, its series finale was immediately divisive among fans. But however you felt about the show’s final destination, we can look back and agree that the ride had some wonderful, memorable highs (and some turbulent lows).

Mickey, the high-flying defense attorney whom readers first met in Michael Connelly’s 2005 novel “The Lincoln Lawyer,” has been pretty much the dictionary definition of a smooth hustler. His nickname comes from his practice of working out of a chauffeured Lincoln, traveling among Los Angeles’ far-flung courthouses so he could pack more cases — and more billable hours — into the day.
