The European Commission, Brazil, Panama and the US state of California are backing a global initiative to support the deployment of 2,000GW of offshore wind power generation. All four on 5 December joined the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (Gowa) at the UN Cop 28 climate conference in Dubai. The coalition aims to deploy at least 380GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and 2,000GW by 2050. The expansion adds 65GW of declared target capacity for 2030 to the alliance.
