I hope that those who are celebrating Palm Sunday today, whether at home or in church, will keep in mind what the day actually means. While the palms symbolize peace and love, and the donkey symbolizes a king who came in peace and not in war, the day also notes the hypocrisy of the crowds that welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem and then brayed for his death just days later—because of who he was and what he taught.

Back in 2018, a number of media outlets reported on the case of Johan, a one-year-old child who landed in U.S. Immigration Court in Phoenix. Johan was all alone, except for an immigration attorney who had been appointed to represent him. Johan had become separated from his father when the latter voluntarily left the United States for his home country of Honduras, thinking that Johan would be going with him.

At Columbia University today, Jewish students chained themselves to a fence to protest the attempted deportation of Mahmoud Khalil. In doing so, they expressed the highest and most lofty principles of Judaic values: A passion for social justice, a hatred for dishonesty, an abhorrence for murder. Those who want to deport Khalil are often racists and anti-Semites.

Because he ruled in favor of due process for five Venezuelan non-citizens who were sent on flights to a notorious prison (concentration camp, actually) in El Salvador. The five deny that they are members of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang, as the Trump administration maintains.
