Comments from Xbox boss Phil Spencer suggest Xbox Game Pass is no longer as important to the business as it once was. There was a time when Xbox Game Pass was seen as the killer app for Microsoft 's consoles. As one of the earliest examples of a subscription service for video games, many thought that it would go on to define the future of gaming. It's certainly influenced other companies, with Sony updating its PlayStation Plus service in 2022 to operate more similarly to Game Pass.

Ever since the initial hype of the Nintendo Switch 2 showcase, Nintendo has been undercutting itself with subsequent details; ones that have had to be dragged out of the company or uncovered elsewhere.

Shuhei Yoshida has expressed disappointment that the Nintendo Switch 2 is exactly what everyone thought it'd be. Even before the controversial Nintendo Switch 2 news dropped (primarily the prices of first party games), not everyone was fully enamoured with the new hardware once it was properly unveiled. There are those who feel Nintendo is playing things too safe with the Switch 2, arguing that it lacks innovation and is too straightforward a hardware upgrade.

If you've always wanted to try out the Metro series, a remastered version of the first game is currently a free download. Last month marked the 15th anniversary of the Metro series of first person shooter video games. While developer 4A Games already put out an anniversary video to celebrate the occasion, it's keeping the celebrations going beyond just that. Out of nowhere, 4A Games has made Metro 2033 Redux, the 2014 remaster of the very first Metro game, free to everyone.
