    Chatham-Kent Council unanimously agreed with Ward 3 East Kent Councillor John Wright – that the dangerous Kent Bridge Road-Ridge Line intersection needs to be converted to a four-way stop. Council approved recommendations from the Chatham-Kent Engineering Department and hired a consultant that a four-way stop to control traffic in all directions is the safest measure for the Rushton’s Corners intersection, which has been the scene of 24 serious collisions since 2017.

    During Monday night’s meeting, Chatham-Kent Council was asked to approve converting the Kent Bridge Road-Ridge Line intersection into a four-way stop. The Chatham-Kent Engineering department was bringing its recommendation to Council based on studies conducted by a consulting company. The intersection currently has stop signs for north and southbound traffic on Kent Bridge Road, while east-west traffic on Ridge Line has the right-of-way.

    The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has opened a Measles Information Centre to provide direction for people who have been exposed to the measles virus but have not been fully vaccinated. The clinic is located outside the Emergency Department at the Chatham hospital site and is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last registration at 4 p.m. However, visits to the Measles Information Centre are by appointment only.
