PEARL — When Madison Central baseball coach Patrick Robey huddled with his team after Game 3 of the MHSAA Class 7A state championship, he shouted, "We checked the final box."That statement was in tandem with the Jaguars' 2025 season mantra, which started years ago. It included 25 wins or more, an MHSAA 7A Region-2 title, a North State title and leaving Trustmark Park as champions. Madison Central (27-8) claimed the MHSAA Class 7A state championship with a 5-1 win over Brandon (24-14) on May 24.

East Union baseball won the MHSAA Class 2A state title, defeating Clarkdale 8-3 in Game 3. Junior Ethan LaMontagne, who overcame two brain tumors, was named series MVP. West Union defeated Taylorsville 4-1 to win the MHSAA Class 1A state baseball championship. The victory marks West Union's first baseball state title. Senior pitcher Grant Martin was named series MVP. PEARL — West Union baseball coach Ashley Russell had difficulty holding back his emotions. Purvis baseball coach Tony Farlow retired after 37 years of coaching, 27 of which were spent at Purvis High School. During his career, Farlow led Purvis to four state championships and amassed a 712-362 record. PEARL — Purvis baseball coach Tony Farlow said he was disappointed during his final game as head coach, but was proud of the team's effort. The Tornadoes' 3-2 loss to West Lauderdale in Game 3 of the MHSAA Class 4A title series on May 23 was Farlow's last in the purple and gold.
