By Michael Collins MAYO had to go to penalties to see off Wexford and seal a very respectable fifth place overall at the Gaynor Cup tournament in Limerick this evening. Kicking off at 6 p.m. on pitch 4, Mayo had wind advantage but Wexford had the first chance, going wide on two minutes. Mayo immediately won a corner and Caoimhe O'Donnell caused the 'keeper a lot of bother with it but she scrambled it clear from under her crossbar.

By Michael Collins MAYO turned in a five-star performance in their first 'placement' game at the Gaynor Cup in Limerick this morning, running out convincing 3-0 winners. Longford were their opposition and despite a number of changes in the starting line-up, the young Mayo girls immediately were on the attack. Kayla Helly brought the first save from the 'keeper in the fifth minute.

By Michael Collins MAYO lost out agonisingly in their Gaynor Cup quarterfinal against Midlands this afternoon. Playing with the wind, Mayo had their first chance in the opening minute when Sive Flanagan delivered a free from her half that Ava Mitchell just failed to get on the end of. In a repeat of this scenario a minute later, the linesman's flag cut it short. Midlands had their first chance on seven minutes go over the bar before Anna Burton had a strong run and worked the 'keeper.

WASHINGTON — The White House on Tuesday announced a $300 million military aid package for Ukraine, as Russian forces make battlefield gains and a much larger aid proposal for ammunition and armor remains stuck in Congress. The White House's package announced Tuesday will include ammunition, anti-aircraft missiles and armor-piercing weapons, according to senior Defense officials who were not authorized to speak publicly.
