Monday morning started off foggy with showers and storms primarily to the south. Heavy downpours over the weekend coupled with the rains of today will make for some very wet conditions. We're also looking at more rain arriving for the rest of our Monday and a good chunk of our Tuesday. A cold front will pass Wednesday morning, drying us out as cold air pushes in once again. Highs will struggle to rise into the 50s on Wednesday with windy northerly winds cooling us off quickly.

(KADN) — We know extreme weather conditions have hurt the crawfish harvest in Acadiana. But what about sugarcane, which supports nearly 20,000 jobs and contributes nearly $4 billion to the Louisiana economy yearly? Is the state's sugarcane industry in jeopardy? That's a good question. The crawfish crop has seen devastating impacts thanks to our drought. But is the sugarcane crop also struggling? That's a good question, and it may not be all bad news.

LEBEAU, La. (KADN) — One part of St. Landry Parish that saw heavy downpours and flooding as a result was the town of Lebeau, which is located in the northern part of the parish. I spent the day there and learned floodwaters threatened some homes and businesses. "Had customers still wanting to come in, even though water was running out," said Joe Stelly, owner of Stelly's Supermarket. "We had customers wanting to come in and I had to tell 'em we were closed.

NEW IBERIA, La. (KADN) — The EF-2 that tore through New Iberia first went through a subdivision and then devastated the Iberia Medical Center. Taking a journey back to that day, it wasn't a pleasant sight. There was substantial roof damage to the hospital. Lots of windows on the building showed cracks and others were broken open. Blinds were strewn about everywhere. There were pieces of metal all over the place and car windshields were broken.

What started as a pleasant day for outdoor activities quickly evolved into a stormy night. Severe weather developed across the region as 60 mile per hour wind gusts knocked out power for some in Acadia and Lafayette Parishes. These storms are still lingering around the region, but the strongest storms are now well to our east, but heavy rain continues around the region.
