Molly Owen and Matt Brookes, from the Childline base in Birmingham, were among 56,950 runners from all over the world that ran 26.2 miles to complete the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris on Sunday, April 13.
New NSPCC CEO visits charity helpline teams in Birmingham

Chris Sherwood, the new NSPCC Chief Executive, visited the charity’s base in Birmingham to meet the local Childline and Helpline teams. His first visit to the Birmingham office in Hagley Road this week also saw Chris meet with local Schools Service staff and community fundraising volunteers. Chris, who began his tenure with the NSPCC in January, is touring the charity’s hubs around the country to get to know the services, staff and offices across the UK.

January can be a difficult month for many people across the UK and here at Childline thousands of children reach out to us all year to discuss their loneliness. In the last year, the NSPCC service has delivered almost 5,000 counselling sessions related to this subject, both online and over the phone from 13 bases across the country. Many children and young people said they felt lonely due to moving house or school and having to make new friends or their parents working long hours.
