    The Mystics of Time celebrated its 75th anniversary ball on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Mobile Civic Center. The fête followed the crewe’s “dragon parade,” which was attended by more than 118,000 paradegoers along the downtown Mobile route. Legendary sports journalist Pat Greenwood emceed the MOTs diamond anniversary event, which celebrated the theme “Remember the Time” and featured musicians Got Groove and The Molly Ringwalds.

    The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association was the crown jewel of a beautiful, sunny afternoon on Fat Tuesday in downtown Mobile as its Mammoth parade stretched for miles. By far Carnival’s longest and the largest parade of any season in Mobile, the Mammoth Parade starts at 2 p.m. by traversing a westward loop in the city, taking nearly two hours to hit the heart of the city on Royal Street.

    The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association celebrated its 86th anniversary Grand Marshal’s Ball on Friday, February 9 at the Mobile Convention Center. The celebration honored Grand Marshal Napoleon Bracy, the Democratic Alabama state representative for District 98. The Grand Marshal’s Ball is MAMGA’s signature soiree, and each year the organization welcomes thousands of guests to eat, drink, dance and meet its Carnival court.

    This king and queen of the Mobile Carnival Association for Mardi Gras 2024 don’t currently live in their hometown of Mobile, but this season has definitely rekindled their love of the Mother of the Mystics as the spotlight envelopes them in earnest. “I’m glad I got out of Mobile for a little bit, but I’m getting close to being ready to move back,” said King Felix III Will Slaton from his current home of Richmond, Virginia, where the University of Alabama graduate works in sales.
