SHEGUIANDAH—The walls of the Centennial Museum of Sheguiandah are the temporary home of the 69th annual Northern Ontario Art Association (NOAA) Juried Exhibition featuring the curated works of some of the North’s finest artists. This year was also the NOAA 75th celebration. “There were 120 works submitted from 15 art clubs across Northern Ontario,” said NOAA member Pam Jackson, who helped organize the display at the museum.

QUEEN’S PARK—In a move, unanimously supported by all members of the legislature, TVO host of ‘The Agenda,’ Steve Paikin, a Kagawong summer resident and familiar sight at Old Mill Heritage Museum events, was honoured at Queens Park. The Expositor caught up with Mr. Paikin as he was driving to Windsor with his 93-year-old father to catch a baseball game. The popular television host was taking advantage of some rare down time and, as it seems his wont, multitasking with an Expositor interview.

WIIKWEMKOONG—The student athletes of Wiikwemkoong High School, the Warriors, have had a very successful year competing in sports across the province. On Wednesday, June 11, students and coaches gathered in the school cafeteria for the 25th Warriors Athletics Banquet. “It has been 25 years, which is amazing because I remember a lot of these things from these photos over here that were a really long time ago,” said master of ceremonies Jillian Peltier, athletic director for those 25 years.

WHITEFISH FALLS—In a ceremony commemorating the expansion of the Whitefish River First Nation (WRFN) territory to include more of its traditional lands, Whitefish River First Nation chief and council, band and community members and allies gathered at Hilly Acres Camp and Trailer Park, recently purchased by the band. Knowledge keeper Craig Fox acted as master of ceremonies for the event.
