    MEADOW BRIDGE – Maddie Fields set a new career-high with 25 points in a 59-20 win over rival Meadow Bridge Tuesday night. Fields set a blistering pace with 16 first-quarter points, helping the Cavaliers build a massive 30-4 first quarter advantage. Brilee Redden added five points and Preslee Treadway collected a pair of buckets in the quarter. Fields’ previous career-best was a 23-point effort against Meadow Bridge on December 20, 2023.

    CHARCMO – One day after shaking off the rust from a 28-day layoff and earning a win in the home-opener, Greenbrier West was dealt a setback with a 74-50 loss to Independence. The two teams battled to two early ties in the first quarter, but the Patriots closed out the frame with an 11-0 run to stake itself to a 22-11 lead on the heels of three three-pointers from junior forward Sylas Nelson. Independence would never look back.

Utilizing defensive pressure and a relentless wave of fresh players, the Cavaliers wore down the Lumberjacks’ inexperienced lineup for an 18th consecutive victory over their longtime rivals.

    MONTCALM – Greenbrier West suffered through a brutal first quarter Wednesday night, leading the Cavaliers to their second defeat in as many nights. West turned the ball over eleven times in the opening quarter and only put up four shots. Kamden Sams hit the lone Cavalier basket while Montcalm ran rampant, opening the game with a 22-2 first quarter that saw five Generals get in the scoring column. Scoring wasn’t the only hurdle for Greenbrier West as foul trouble mounted early.

    INSTITUTE – The wait is over Charmco!A long-awaited state title belongs to the Greenbrier West Cavaliers. The Lady Cavaliers defeated the top-seeded East Hardy Cougars three sets to one to claim the first girls’ team title in any sport, and they did so with flair. Paige Dean hammered home the final point with a thunderous spike into Lester Raines Court at the Walker Convocation Center for a thrilling 27-25, championship-clinching victory on Tuesday.
