AbstractMalignancies are reliant on glutamine as an energy source and a facilitator of aberrant DNA methylation. We demonstrate preclinical synergy of telaglenastat (CB-839), a selective glutaminase inhibitor, combined with azacytidine (AZA), followed by a single-arm, open-label, phase 1b/2 study in persons with advanced myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).

On Nov. 29, my 92-year-old father fell in his Fargo apartment. When help arrived, he was taken to the VA, since he receives primary care there. He was quickly diagnosed with a fractured hip, and since the VA isnβt staffed to treat major fractures, his care team began calling area hospitals to initiate a transfer. No area hospital had an available bed for him. On Nov. 30, still no hospitals would accept him for treatment.

AbstractGenes that drive the proliferation, survival, invasion and metastasis of malignant cells have been identified for many human cancers1,2,3,4. Independent studies have identified cell death pathways that eliminate cells for the good of the organism5,6. The coexistence of cell death pathways with driver mutations suggests that the cancer driver could be rewired to activate cell death using chemical inducers of proximity (CIPs).
