BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — After a cold start Wednesday morning, a nice warmup will continue throughout the day. Temperatures will peak around 70 degrees with sunshine and no chance of rain. We are expecting a storm system to arrive in Alabama on Thursday. That will bring a lower-end threat for strong to severe thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours. Some storms could be capable of producing gusty winds and hail. It’s not a set up for widespread tornadoes.

The storms will continue this afternoon, but the biggest threat will be heavy rain that can lead to flash flooding. Rain totals will be around 2-4″ with some spots over 5″ of rain.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Saturday afternoon: We are dealing with some very warm weather for this time of year. Temperatures will run well into the 80s. Weather Aware: A cold front will cross Alabama on Sunday, bringing rain and storms between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. Some of these storms could be strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center highlighted a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk to a 2/5 Slight Risk for damaging winds, hail and possibly a tornado for central Alabama.
