CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — An Iowa Senator serving from Cedar Rapids revealed on social media that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Art Staed serves in the Iowa Senate in District 40, and his term runs through 2029. He recently won the Senate seat in 2024 after 14 years in the Iowa House. Staed says he plans to continue serving in the seat.

    IOWA CITY, Iowa — The number of shootings, rounds fired, people hit and guns seized are all down year-over-year in Iowa City, according to new data released by Iowa City Police Department. ICPD released its 2024 crime data Thursday, and the city council is set to address the report at its upcoming meeting on June 3. That's an increase from 2023 when no one was killed by gunfire. ICPD does not include gun-related suicides, attempts or accidental discharges in its gun violence data.
