The secret weapon languished in the backyard, and yet no one was using it. Saturday’s loss to No. 9 Duke, another tally in a bewildering losing streak and the cap on a bewildering season, sent Virginia into the offseason The lacrosse stick’s end dangled from its other three quarters. Virginia submitted a fantastic performance, by all accounts, but lost in the final few minutes Coach Lars Tiffany gazed at the scoreboard, hands on hips. He stared it down for a long second. Then he turned and waded into the center of a downbeat huddle. He is a khaki-and-quarter-zip guy this time of year, more of a joggers-and-sweatshirt guy come basketball season. In this video, Odom begins, after a second, to speak. What he’s saying is not the important part. The important part is what is behind him. Odom is in the head coach’s office.
