Let’s suppose a tech billionaire with a sense of humor wants to shake things up. Suppose he were to establish a fund that will be used after the election to pay rewards to anyone who provides evidence leading to the conviction of a person who has committed crimes related to voting and vote-counting in the November election. This would seem to be an appropriate purpose for the establishment of a fund, donations to which would be tax-deductible.

I’m going to tell you something few others will. It will cost you a bit today, perhaps, but like the habit of regular trips to the gym in your 30s and 40s, it will pay off big in your60s and beyond. Here goes: Consider opening and funding an account based on well-managed equity mutual funds, which will result in an annual tax bill. Get annoyed each year when that 1099-DIV tax form forces you to pay taxes on reinvested dividends and distributed capital gains that you didn’t need.
