Officers from the National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday, April 16 condoled with families affected by the collapse of a building in Kisii County. Five people died after the four-storey building under construction collapsed in Itierio area on 6th April 2025. Kisii County Police Commander Ronald Kirui led officers to Bogiakumu Location, Bonyando Sub-Location, to condole with the bereaved families.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) on Tuesday, April 15 came to the rescue of a helpless giraffe with magot-infested wound at the Meru National Park. The authority’s Meru Mobile Veterinary Unit, in conjunction with a team from Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT), responded to a report of the injured adult male reticulated giraffe within the park. The wound, KWS says, was located on the right lateral aspect at the base of the giraffe’s neck, and is suspected to have been constantly reopened by ox-peckers.

George Oduor, a longtime aide and bodyguard to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga, has passed away. According to reports, Oduor died on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital, where he had been admitted for over a week. A trusted member of Raila Odinga’s security team, Oduor had served the Odinga family for over 30 years, dating back to the 1990s.
