    Oshie likely to announce retirementThe Washington Capitals announced that forward T.J. Oshie will make a special announcement on Monday, June 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington Harbour in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The date happens to be on the anniversary of Oshie and the rest of the team swimming in the fountains just days after winning the Stanley Cup.

    It's the offseasonThe Washington Capitals may be bringing the majority of their team back to get another crack at what was a successful regular season and while the playoff berth was shortlived it was still longer than previous ones. That being said let's look at two Caps players who won't be back with the team next season. We already know Nicklas Backstrom will not be back. Neither will T.J. Oshie most likely. A player that I think will not be back next season is Lars Eller.

    Capitals dip into their pipelineThe Washington Capitals have re-signed goaltender Garin Bjorklund to a one year, two way contract. His deal will carry $775,000 at the NHL level and $110,000 in the AHL. The goalie posted a 21-4-3 record with a 2.02 goals against average and .927 save percentage with the South Carolina Stingrways of the ECHL in 2024-25. The 23 year old did this in a span of 29 games and had a shutout.

    Next up we grade Lars EllerOne month into the season, the Washington Capitals were still looking for that third line center. They would then make a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins to trade for Lars Eller. Prior to the trade Eller recorded seven points in 17 games with the Penguins with four goals and three assists. After the trade he appeared in 63 games with the Capitals and had six goals and nine assists for 15 points.

    We are finally learning more of what the renovations will look likeCapital One Arena will soon have a new look when your coming to Washington Capitals games. Thanks to a big renovation project annouced by Ted Leonsis earlier this season, work is now underway. Phase one which is starting now will primarily focus on the event level so players will be the first to see these new changes with a different locker room and surrounding facilities.
