With the injury to A.J. Puk, the Diamondbacks have seen their left-handed reliever depth thin out over the weekend. As of the time of this writing, Jalen Beeks is the lone lefty in the bullpen. That in itself could present a problem when it comes to bullpen construction. It limits the amount of flexibility that manager Torey Lovullo has when trying to attack certain parts of the lineup.

The Diamondbacks' Minor League affiliates all lost on Sunday. Here's a recap of all the action. A typical Pacific Coast League slugfest that featured multiple lead changes, the Aces came back from trailing 7-6 in the eighth inning on Jordan Lawlar's fifth home run of the year before falling in extra innings. Lawlar caps off a strong week against Round Rock, going 9-for-22 (.409) at the plate with two doubles, a triple, three home runs, and a 1.344 OPS.

The Arizona Diamondbacks salvaged the finale against the Chicago Cubs 3-2 in 11 innings. They overcame two rain delays, an injury to their starting pitcher, and some frustrating at-bats with runners in scoring position late for a gritty win to close out a 4-2 road trip. Merrill Kelly got off to a bumpy start, as three of the first four Cubs reached. Following a 59-minute rain delay, a checked swing by Michael Busch fell safely in left field to score the game's first run.

The Diamondbacks made a series of moves on Saturday to shake up their bullpen. Joe Mantiply and Bryce Jarvis, who gave up six runs and the lead in the eighth inning of Friday's loss, were sent down to Triple-A Reno while A.J. Puk was placed on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation. Coming back up were right-handers Drey Jameson, Juan Morillo, and J.P. Feyereisen.

The Diamondbacks' minor league affiliates combined for a 1-3 record. Here's a rundown of all the action for Thursday. Reno's only scoring came off the bat of Jordan Lawlar. Lawlar launched a two-run home run in the third for his fourth of the year. After a slow start, he's slashing .333/.425/.619 over his last 16 games. The only concern is the strikeouts, as he's punched out in over 28% of his trips to the plate.
