According to JR Mocanu, the co-owner of Public Parking, things are off to a great start for Madison’s newest cocktail bar. Public Parking, the newest bar in the Tenney-Lapham neighborhood bar located on 711 E. Johnson St., opened its doors last week on Oct 8. “It seems like everyone [is] happy so far with everything. National Cheese Curd Day, celebrated annually on Oct. 15, was created in 2015 by the fast-food chain Culver’s to recognize Wisconsin’s signature treat. But the history of cheese curds goes back thousands of years earlier. A new vanity plate option for Wisconsin drivers will help support two native crane species. On Oct. 9, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation added the Cranes of Wisconsin to their list of specialized license plate options. The plate — designed by Wisconsin artist Jay Jocham, whose work has helped fund programs protecting wildlife for more than 37 years — features the two species native to Wisconsin: the endangered whooping crane and the sandhill crane.
