PHILADELPHIA – It’s easy to forget sometimes that big league players are human. They have their struggles. They have their crises of confidence. And in Philadelphia all that anguish plays out in front of a packed Citizens Bank Park. Alec Bohm and Brandon Marsh are both mired in slumps. The two are good friends, their lockers next to each other in the Phillies clubhouse.

Things are looking much brighter on Field 6 at Veterans Memorial Park in Egg Harbor Township. The Egg Harbor Township Baseball Association held a ceremony Monday night to mark the installation of lights at the field. The Egg Harbor Township Committee last October passed a resolution to pay $302,125.00 to Musco Sports Lighting to install the lights. Jamie Gillespie, president of the Egg Harbor Township Baseball Association, credited the township committee for funding the project.

PHILADELPHIA – Phillies bench player Johan Rojas had a chance to grab some more playing time in center field Monday night. He struck out three times. That’s the way things are going for the Phillies right now. The San Francisco Giants beat the Philadelphia 10-4 before 40,636 fans at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies (9-7) had dropped two straight and four of their last five. Manage Rob Thomson benched center fielder Brandon Marsh because he is 0 for 24 this month. That’s correct.

PHILADELPHIA - Brandon Marsh got the day off from the starting lineup Monday. Still, the Phillies center fielder got to Citizens Bank Park by 12:30 p.m.It was time to clear his head and work on swing. “I gotta grind,” Marsh said. “Get back on track. Today was a good day. We just got to keep stacking (good days).”Marsh is buried in a horrendous slump. He began Monday batting .108 (4 for 37) this season. He is 0 for 24 in April.

RT @mickeyd55: @ACPressMcGarry I can’t believe you posted this. I just told a friend of mine almost the exact same thing

The Phillies are very good - going to make the playoffs - but it feels like they’re a right-handed power outfield bat and relief pitcher away from World Series. You can fix the reliever in season. The bat is a different story
