On Thursday, March 6, 2025, WTVO Channel 17 News anchor Mimi Murphy quietly led a group of sponsors, family, friends and teachers down the hallway at Ledgewood Elementary School in Roscoe, Illinois. It was Golden Apple Day in and around Rockford, Illinois. The goal of the annual award is to enhance learning children in pre-school through grade 12. This year, the emphasis was on recognizing exceptional elementary school educators.

The Village of Roscoe once again presents a Hometown Holiday but this time adds a Merry Market. The event will last four hours, from 3 - 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024. The new Village multi-use parking lot on Bridge Street, behind Velvet Robot, will be the site of Christmas huts featuring local food and drink. Among the choices: Pietro's, Whiskey Hotel Barbecue, Perfectly Seasoned, and Mary's Market. Drinks will be provided by Louie's Taphouse and Poison Ivy Pub.

Michael Patrick, 67, South BeloitA Navy veteran and a 1975 South Beloit High School graduate, he proudly owned BUWW Upholstery for 26 years. He was specifically a Brett Favre fan. Nov.
