Tufts sent out an advisory to the university community on Aug. 27 warning about a rise in mosquito-borne illnesses throughout Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has reported three human cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis and seven human cases of West Nile virus so far in 2024.

Local chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi remains unaffiliated with Tufts University. In March, several Tufts students approached the university with intentions of reestablishing the Medford Alpha Epsilon Pi Eta Deuteronfraternity chapter on campus. Tufts denied the request to officially recognize AEPi, and the chapter remains unaffiliated with the university.

Senators discussed proposed plans to extend dining hours and improve utilization of meal swipes for fall 2024. At its most recent weekly Sunday meeting, the Tufts Community Union Senate announced the university’s plans to address food insecurity in light of students’ frustration with no longer being able to use two meal swipes at retail dining locations.
