    (Newport) Croatan beat South Brunswick 10-7 May 20 in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A/2A/1A girls lacrosse state playoffs. Croatan improved to 13-8. Last season it was a Final Four team. In 2023, it won the state championship. The South Brunswick Cougars end the most successful season in the history of the program 9-11.
