    KING CITY — King City High wrestling team won two dual meets in the Mission Division last Thursday night at Greenfield High School.     GONZALES — Gonzales High School wrestlers Clarissa Rico and Cherish Yebra won medals at the Trojan Wrath Girls Wrestling Tournament that took place at Alisal High School on Dec. 28. Rico went 3-1 to win the consolation championship. Yebra finished with a 3-2 record to place fourth. At the Pat Lovell Classic in Aptos on Dec. 27-28, Josiah Rosales-Garcia went 3-3 to place eighth for the Spartan boys. Nelson Cisneros did not place but finished with a 3-2 record.

    KING CITY — King City High’s cross country teams celebrated the completion of their running season with a dinner and awards night at the school cafeteria. Runners, coaches and parents attended the Christmas-themed event in semi-formal attire. “We had tacos for our dinner and we celebrated our seniors there, as it is kind of hard to celebrate them during the season,” said King City head cross country coach Miguel Zendejas.

    SALINAS VALLEY — King City High varsity girls’ basketball team lost 60-27 at home to the Watsonville Wildcatz on Nov. 26. Watsonville held a 28-16 halftime lead then pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring King City 16-6. Kendyl Burpo led the Lady Mustangs with eight points, while Crystal Paramo and Mikayla McLane scored five points apiece. Amity Hearne had a team-high 14 rebounds.

    SALINAS VALLEY — Gonzales High varsity boys’ soccer team opened the pre-season last week with a 4-1 victory over host Pacific Grove, and ended the week on Saturday with a 2-2 tie in Santa Maria against Righetti High School. On Nov. 25 at Pacific Grove, Jorge Uribe scored two goals in the Spartans’ win over the Breakers. Edgar Santiago and Luis Benavides scored solo goals, and Jose Camacho and Ulisses Mancillas were credited with assists.
